2022 Tournament Recap

We had a great fall day to play our 2022 Rally for Pink Tournament at Edgewood Bath & Tennis in Middlebury, Connecticut. Thank you to Susie Jones for donating the facility and court time and so many of the perfect touches seen yesterday.

We had 18 duos take to the courts in a flighted round robin format. Each team played each of the teams in their flight, in a 5-game per round setup. To support breast cancer awareness there was plenty of pink on the courts and even some pink balls in play!

The top two teams from each flight progressed to a single elimination bracket later in the day. Moving on to the finals we had:

  1. Jen Persio & Tina Rivera (20 games)
  2. Sandi Mauro & Becky Klimkosky (18 games)
  3. Kim Bandak & Christine Conroy (16 games)
  4. Amy McCormack & Heather Dever (15 games)
  5. Kristen Bradley & Shari Wright (15 games)
  6. Nicole Daddona & Liz Robinson (14 games)

Competing in the final Jen & Tina defeated Sandi & Becky and took home the 1st place trophies.

Representing the Seymour Pink Board of Directors, Lisa Roshkind and Tina Godkin came and spoke a bit about the organization. Seymour Pink, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2009 that supports patients during and after their fight with breast cancer. Fundraising events like Rally for Pink help them fulfill their mission throughout the entire year.

Seymour Pink’s mission is to unite a community in the fight against breast cancer. Through fundraising efforts, our goal is to fund breast cancer research, provide education and to empower and assist breast cancer victims and their families.

Seymour Pink supports patients and families in 39 towns in our area through financial assistance, chemotherapy comfort baskets, scholarship programs for college bound students, and truly in just the support of knowing no one fights alone. The organization is 100% volunteer and grassroots. All monies raised for Rally for Pink will go directly to Seymour Pink.

We were honored to have 4 survivors playing with us this year! We recognized these pink warriors with a small token of honor.

A huge thank you to the Post University Men’s Tennis Team for helping out all day. They arrived before 8 AM, bright eyed and ready to help with setup and court preparation and continued to assist with tournament logistics, rules, scorekeeping and an occasional line call. A special thank you to captain Cooper Smith for playing in with a variety of partners for an injured team who couldn’t make it, and being a great sport about it.

Thank you to Stani Dairy for donating true Greek yogurt for our breakfast buffet. Raffles were donated by many area businesses – please check out our raffle list recap post here and be sure to visit these businesses to support them, and let them know you appreciate their contribution to Rally for Pink!
